In-Glaze Branded Café Cups

Every ceramic supplier will print your logo on a cup. The question none of them raise is where the print sits, and on a café cup that question decides everything, because the cup will meet a commercial dishwasher several times a day for years.

An on-glaze decal is fired onto the surface at low temperature and sits on top of the glaze. It is cheap, it is vivid, and on a working cup it fades to a ghost — the washer’s chemistry and heat abrade it a little every cycle. Find the oldest cups in any café and read what is left of the logo; that is on-glaze decoration meeting reality.

In-glaze and under-glaze decoration are fired hot enough that the artwork sinks into, or sits beneath, the glassy surface of the glaze itself. There is nothing on top to abrade. The logo outlives the cup, surviving every cycle the porcelain does.
