Custom espresso cups questions, answered.
Everything buyers ask before they order — minimums, timings, artwork and print options.
What is the minimum order?
Our minimum order is just 12 cups — one small café rail or a boxed gift run is a normal order — with volume tiers for chains, hotel groups and wholesale programmes.
How fast will my espresso cups arrive?
Your free mockup lands within 24 hours and finished cups ship in about 2 weeks, with express turnaround available when an opening date is fixed.
Why do you talk so much about preheating and wall thickness?
Because the cup outweighs the espresso ten to one, so the porcelain’s temperature decides the drink’s. A cold cup strips the heat from a 25ml shot in seconds; a thick preheated wall holds it to the last sip. That is why cafés store cups on the machine’s warmer, and why we quote wall thickness and weight rather than just a pretty photograph.
Will the logo survive a commercial dishwasher?
It depends where the print sits, and our quotes name it. On-glaze decals sit on the surface and fade to a ghost under thousands of wash cycles — read the oldest cup in any café. In-glaze and under-glaze decoration is fired into or beneath the glassy surface itself, so there is nothing on top to abrade and the logo outlives the cup.
What size should an espresso cup actually be?
60 to 90 millilitres, and we quote the number rather than a size name, because size names lie between makers. A single shot in a 200ml “small” cup spreads thin, loses its crema and goes cold no matter how well it was pulled. Cortado runs about 120-130ml and cappuccino about 150-180ml, all stated exactly on the quote.
Why does the inside shape of the cup matter?
The bowl makes the crema’s last impression. A tulip interior narrows toward the rim and folds the crema in on itself so the shot arrives looking alive; a wide shallow bowl spreads 25ml thin and breaks the surface. Pour the same shot into both and the difference needs no explaining — it is the cheapest quality upgrade on a coffee bar.
Can you match or extend a set we already run?
Usually. Send several cups rather than photographs — glaze must be matched in hand under real light — and we will tell you plainly how close we can get before anything is fired. Every set we make is held on file (glaze, artwork, method, sizes, saucers), so our own top-ups match the rail they join.
Do you make enamel mugs, glassware, paper cups or boba cups?
No. Enamelled steel, glass drinkware, paper takeaway cups, cup sleeves, drink carriers and cold-drink cups are each their own product with their own specialist, and we will point you to one rather than sell you the wrong thing. Everything we make is fired porcelain for coffee.
