A café cup lives a rough life between coffees: stacked five high on the machine, racked through the washer, slid along the rail, and eventually dropped. Most cup damage is none of those alone — it is rims meeting rims, a hundred times a day.

So the rack cup is its own spec. The rim is rolled and slightly thickened where cups actually touch; the foot is glazed and finished so it does not scour the cup below; and the stacking geometry is true, so a stack of five stands straight instead of leaning into the first knock.

Vitrified porcelain matters double here. A vitrified body is glass right through, so a chip stays a chip — porous earthenware drinks in water at any chip and spalls apart in the washer.
